It’s Okay To Not Be Okay
I went through some genuinely shitty, life-shaking stuff recently. The kind where every part of you wants to power through — fix it, handle it, move past it fast. That old high-achiever reflex kicked in hard.
Car issues. Chaos. Stress. More chaos.
And then I realized… I wasn’t okay.
And I didn’t need to pretend that I was.
The personal development world loves to glorify resilience at all costs — “stay positive,” “keep going,” “you’ve got this” — but sometimes what you actually need is a moment to fall apart, unplug, and just be human.
So I let myself pause.
I ate pizza.
I drank wine.
I watched The Grinch (my favorite Christmas movie - the classic one!)
I shut my phone down and stopped trying to be productive.
The next morning I went to the beach and really unplugged. I let the ocean mist hit my face. I stood in the quiet winter sun. I didn’t try to fix my life — I just let myself exist in it.
And honestly? That’s what started the healing.
So here’s your permission slip:
You’re allowed to not be okay.
You’re allowed to take a moment.
You’re allowed to rest instead of perform.
